Pastor Lee Benton was born in Monroe, N.C. on November, 1971. His parents Kitral and Carolyn Benton are missionaries with Gulf Coast Prison Ministries. Pastor Benton was gloriously born again on September 8, 1996 and called to preach the Gospel in May of 1997. He married, Angie, his wonderful wife on February, 1998 and served 2 ½ years as a missionary evangelist for Gulf Coast Prison Ministry. During that time, he also attended the Carolina Bible College and the Timothy School of the Bible. Pastor Benton accepted the pastorial position of Open Door Baptist in January, 2001. God has used the preaching and teaching of our Pastor to see sinners saved and others drawn near to the Lord here at Open Door. It is his desire to love, instruct, encourage and point all to the risen Saviour which is Christ the Lord. Mrs. Angie is our Pastor’s wife and she is also formally of North Carolina. Mrs. Angie has been singing for the Lord and playing the piano since she was 13 years old. Her parents are Ted and Pat Belk of Mint Hill, N.C. and her father serves as Head Deacon of Faith Baptist Church. Although Mrs. Angie has a “goodly heritage”, it was not until August, 2000 that she truly fell under Holy Ghost conviction as was saved under the preaching of Pastor Rick Baker. Since that time, God has used Mrs. Angie to reach other lost church members for the glory of God. Mrs. Angie wears many “hats” for our church that include: Teacher for the Ladies Sunday School Class, Secretary, Pianist, Soloist and a valuable partner to our Pastor. Her humor, warm heart and anointed teaching and singing will truly be a blessing to your heart. Pastor and Mrs. Angie have two wonderful children, Morgan and Matthew. We at Open Door Baptist love our Pastor and his family.
